Sarah Boris' studio

Sarah Boris is an artist and designer based in London. After having worked for more than ten years in places such as the Institute of Contemporary Art in London (ICA), Phaidon or the Barbican, she founded her creative studio in 2015 around visual identity, design editorial, publishing and graphic exhibits. His works oscillate between pop art and concrete poetry. Sarah Boris gives regularly conferences of design in universities and is notably part of the jury of the Design Week Awards. In parallel with his projects, the artist produces serigraphs and participates in artist residencies. His work has been exhibited at the Design Museum in London and has entered the collections of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Frac Normandie in Rouen and the Center of Book Arts in New York.

In his workshop Alphadots" in Marseille, the designer pushes our students to create in a new way and to find their visual language by imposing the use of round stickers. With these stickers, each group imagines 4 letters of the alphabet before they are put together to form a complete alphabet. A collective work presented in the form of a publication afterwards.

Mantraste's workshop

Bruno Reis Santos AKA Mantraste is a Portuguese illustrator and graphic designer. A fan of nature and popular mysticism, he has produced more than a hundred covers for authors such as JG Ballard, Ali Smith and Michel Rio. His drawings, his formatting and his typography have a colorful and generous approach and are enriched by printing processes such as risography or stamping. The designer has also taught illustration and risography in Brazil, Spain and Portugal, and participated in exhibitions for contemporary art centers and major international brands.

The Mantraste workshop in Marseille is divided into two moments: the first is to draw small characters using red clay, which together evoke the traces of an ancient civilization. The second is to collect the pieces of ash and then put them together before documenting the ceramic pieces through drawings and short texts. In a collective publication where each student has his own chapter, they thus create a dreamlike memory of a civilization.
