After their design studies at Ecole Intuit Lab, our graduate students in artistic direction in strategy and brand design open up to various professions in the exciting world of design. Here is an overview of the key professions in the sector.

Artistic director

From the idea to its realization, the Artistic Director or the Artistic Director is a creative guarantor of the visual identity of a brand, a product, or even an event. Through his role, he immerses himself in the company's project, its spirit and its objectives in order to be able to propose and manage its brand platform and visual identity.

The DA provides creative responses to projects of different kinds (institutional, promotional, digital) in companies, design agencies, advertising. Whether through the logo, the website, social networks, a communication campaign, packaging or advertising, he applies a coherent and relevant visual universe on all media.

The DA proposes visual and strategic ideas for a project and must convince the company. He also has a manager's cap with a team of graphic designers, photographers, ux designer...

Where to work? In a communication agency, with the advertiser or as a freelancer.

What qualities? Creativity, sense of aesthetics, listening, curiosity and rigor.

Graphic designer

The Graphic Designer (or graphic designer) creates visual communication tools intended to transmit a message to a defined target. He creates print or digital visuals (posters, flyers, magazines, social networks, etc.) in response to customer requests. The Graphic Designer mobilizes creative skills with drawing, the transformation of ideas into images, visual codes, and techniques with mastery of software and the graphics chain.

Brand Designer

At the crossroads of graphics, communication and marketing, the brand designer is responsible for creating the various visual supports of a brand, in print or digital. While respecting the creative strategy, it must present the graphic charter with relevance but also be forceful of proposals. It guarantees the consistency of the media and helps to develop the brand image and its strategy. From the perspective of the economic development of a brand and its reception among the public, the brand designer must also take into account the expectations of the targets through his projects.

Creative director

At the head of a creative team, the creative director leads and must respect the creative vision of a brand through its media. From design to delivery of the project, he supervises a team of creatives and takes care of follow-up with clients. In charge of creative strategies, he ensures that the client's needs are respected and that objectives are met. If creativity is the engine of this profession, it also brings together a sense of organization, adaptation, knowledge of creative professions but also of marketing and commercial issues.

UX Designer

Digital transformation has given rise to the profession of UX Design. Increasingly sought after, it meets new needs for designing and optimizing websites and mobile applications. What does it mean to be a UX Designer? It cares about the user experience by adjusting the features according to their needs and expectations. This involves creating user navigation with the organization of graphic and textual elements. UX is the way to respond to problems and guarantee smooth use of a site or application.

UI Designer

Not to be confused with UX Design – complementary but different – ​​user interface focuses on graphic and textual elements. The visual identity, graphic design, and editorial charter will guide the UI Designer in the design of a site or application with a functional and reassuring design for the user. Why should the UI not be neglected? Intervening after the UX Designer, the UI Designer visually embodies the structure of the interface and thus contributes to improving it: highlighting the functionalities and facilitating navigation. The interface will gain in quality and credibility with users.

Motion designer

Among the new professions resulting from the digital transformation, that of Motion Designer consists of designing graphic, audiovisual and interactive animations. Used for commercials, television, on the web, the Motion Design video format meets multiple needs to share messages in a simple and understandable way.

Illustration, animation, special effects, sounds or typography are used to compose the visual of Motion Design projects.

Web Designer

From the design to the delivery of web interfaces (website, application, etc.), the web designer participates in the analysis of functional and technical needs, in the implementation of an architecture, in the application graphic identity or ergonomics. Having to respect specifications, he supervises the project between the digital and marketing teams and the clients. With the aim of improving the user experience, meeting the needs of a client or developing a brand image, its role intervenes at the different stages of the design of a digital project.

packaging designer

Box of biscuits, perfumes, headphones, etc. Between graphic design and product design, the packaging designer thinks and designs the way in which a product will be presented and reflect the brand. Thanks to its packaging, a product catches the eye, stands out from the competition, makes its promise known, and conveys the brand image. Respect for a visual identity, incarnation of a universe, transmission of information, customer use, eco-design, etc. different parameters must be taken into account to create packaging that will contribute to the commercial success of the product. Packaging is a real communication tool!

Illustrator

An illustrator is recognized by his artistic style and his universe. For a book, a press article, a poster, print or digital communications from a brand, an event,... the illustrator can bring his artistic touch to various media. With good pencil skills, he masters the artistic techniques of drawing but also the digital tools for drawing and creating visuals. Alongside his creative work, the illustrator must also sell his work, develop his network of clients and adapt to their needs.

Typographer

Typography is an art in its own right within graphic design. Initially artisanal before opening up to digital technology, the profession of typographer chooses, creates and designs fonts. For the world of publishing, graphics, signage, signage or digital technology, typography can be integrated into all media and helps create a visual identity. To design characters, the typographer masters traditional techniques of letter design and the principles of layout and printing. Creative, he has an eye for detail to propose characters in cohesion with a graphic charter, and define their size, color and arrangement for the layout. Before printing, the typographer must ensure the visual harmony and readability of the characters. His artistic sense is an asset to offer unique characters. The typographer can generally work freelance or in a creative and design agency.
