International Workshops 2023: The artists of the 21st edition

Three pairs of artists, each with their own distinct style, will share their expertise and enrich the learning experience of our second and third-year Bachelor students at this 2023 edition. From minimalism and technology to responsibility, design will reveal itself in different facets and showcase new interpretations. We present the inspiring projects of the designers who will lead these international workshops.

The photographs of Anna Devis & Daniel Rueda are truly captivating! If you love symmetrical compositions and vibrant colors, their work will undoubtedly catch your eye. Passionate about travel and architecture, the Spanish duo captures their subjects from a poetic and minimalist perspective . Building facades are transformed into colorful and joyful works of art. The designers themselves create their instantly recognizable aesthetic. Both are ambassadors for camera manufacturer Hasselblad and were included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe 2020 Arts & Culture list. They have also collaborated with major brands such as Adobe, Nissan, Kenzo, LG, and Roland Garros.

With their experimental design lab aerosoap, designers Thomas Wirtz and Frédéric Wiegand create projects at the intersection of art, design, and science. The German duo experiment and innovate to transform messages into tangible experiences . Technology blends with design, opening up a new realm of possibilities. Their projects have received numerous awards, including the Red Dot Best of the Best in 2016, the Bavarian State Prize for Young Designers, and the European Design Award.

Maude Bouchard , director of the graphic design program at the School of Design at Laval University in Quebec, and Sylvie Pouliot , who taught there for 24 years, co-founded Atelier DIR (Design Ingiqué et Responsable – Involved and Responsible Design). Within the university, their space combines graphic design with the search for solutions to environmental and social problems . Their students are invited to reflect and create in order to raise awareness, address current issues, and convey compelling messages. Here, design demonstrates its power to impact and the role it plays in the evolution of society and our thinking.
