Ruedi Baur - Sponsor of the 2021 class

Translating the soul of a public space through design and graphic arts: this is the mission of Franco-Swiss designer Ruedi Baur , the creator of the visual identity and signage for the Centre Pompidou , the New School in New York, and most recently, the graphic charter for CENTQUATRE in Paris. At the helm of his own studios, Intégral Ruedi Baur, based in Paris and Zurich, Ruedi Baur uses graphic expression as a means of identifying a place, guiding and informing its visitors. Simultaneously, this visual and textual work contributes to the scenography of institutions and urban spaces.

A graphic designer by training, Ruedi Baur brings together interdisciplinary design with architecture and spatial design . The principles of his work are reflected in his teaching and research activities . Coordinator of the design department at the École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon from 1989 to 1996, he shared his knowledge in China, Argentina, Brazil, and Europe. He currently teaches and conducts research at HEAD in Geneva, ENSAD Paris, the University of Strasbourg, and the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

Author of several books on graphic design and his research background, such as * Voyages entre les langues * (2018) , Ruedi Baur is a born polyglot. Multilingualism is central to his projects .
