1 – Being able to lead an entire project

The artistic director heads a team of creatives. Project and team management are at the heart of his job. To be a good manager, he has a team spirit and good interpersonal skills. In order to coordinate roles of each person and the proper execution of missions according to a schedule and a budget, being well organized is essential.   

2 – Take a global vision 

The artistic director provides strategic vision in design. His overall vision allows him to ensure the coherence of a project between the overall strategy and the brand image. THE artistic director gives direction to take for creative teams. He ensures the respect for visual identity, in a tone, of the application of the graphic charter. He knows how to create and justify the links between the different media and messages, to create a relevant global universe. The artistic director guides a project and guides his teams in the right direction. 

3 – Know the design professions well

To successfully manage a creative team, it is important to understand each person’s role. If he is not fully capable of creating a website himself, the artistic director is nevertheless capable of knowing what a UX designer can achieve, for example. Between his vision and that of his collaborator, he knows how to identify feasible solutions and recognize their good execution. His knowledge of different professions also allows him to entrust suitable missions. 

4 – Cultivate your creative spirit 

Finding inspiration everywhere, spotting details, trends and behaviors, nourish the ideas of an artistic director. His sensitivity to art and culture, his curiosity, help them acquire a solid background to develop their creativity. To propose solutions, respond to needs or anticipate expectations, he demonstrates a force of proposal. Knowledge and creativity bring meaning and added value to visual creations, to go beyond aesthetics. 

5 – Master graphic design  

Mastery of technical tools such as the Adobe software suite is essential. The artistic director knows adapt graphic creations to different media, digital or print. He is attentive to visual trends and continually trains himself in new tools, to acclimatize to the evolution of practices related to graphics.
