Lab NFT / Metaverses: Creation of virtual worlds

A Web 3.0 approach

Share

Our 1st preparatory year students have taken a step ahead by learning about the making of metaverses and NFT!

The fictional virtual world of metaverse and NFTs agitate many companies and brands wishing to take part. Do these two terms, which quickly responded to each other after Facebook's parent company was renamed “Meta”, seem vague to you? The metaverse is a three-dimensional virtual world where everyone can interact in a real way. Considered as the future internet, web 3.0, this immersive parallel world from video games, allows us to perform various activities such as work, entertainment or commerce through an avatar. Based on the technologies of augmented reality (AR) and the virtual reality (VR), the metaverse is still only an abstract concept and should take shape in about ten years although online games Roblox, The Sandbox or Fortnite have already taken the turn. Large companies see it as a new El Dorado by investing substantial sums in these virtual worlds. Very present in the metaverse, NFTs mean non-fungible token, i.e. an authenticated digital asset issued by a blockchain, a technology that makes it possible to store and exchange value on the internet without a centralized intermediary. Unique, NFTs have a certificate of authenticity and a right of ownership, which prevents any falsification.

Au the heart of these new concepts, design plays a major role to design these virtual worlds. To undertake these new innovations related to web 3.0, our students in the 1st preparatory year followed a lab NFT and metaverse augmented around the design and simulation of a metaverse and NFTs on the art market and artistic identity, under the technical and artistic direction of Yann Minh and Linda Rolland. Between drawing their projects, creations ofworks NFT, posting, and creation of avatars, architectures and landscapes in the metaverse, they lived a rich immersion in the environment of creation in 3D and virtual reality. This project was an opportunity for them to better understand the metaverse through its origins, cyberpsychology, structural elements, and to discover emblematic NFT platforms.
