The return of travel

Some of our Master 1 students have gone to discover new cultures in Montreal, Quebec and Puebla!

Foreign travel is back! After two years of waiting, we are pleased to see 9 of our students in 1 Master to study in a new country. Canada was acclaimed this year since 8 of them settled down in Montreal and Quebec, in partner universities of our network. Flavie Le Pape and Altaïr Truphème left in exchange forUniversity of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), in the heart of downtown, while Jade Haegel, Estelle Reverreau, Caroline Lambert and Solène Villemain joined the benches of theLaval University, the very first French-speaking institution of higher education founded in America. On their side, Juliette Mercier and Éva Héry began their internship in these two French-speaking cities within thedigital advertising agency MiniMal. The temperature will not be the same for Clotilde Cester who went on exchange to Mexico, To theUNARTE in Puebla.

To allow us to follow their adventures, our students have each created an Instagram account to share their discoveries. Before going to Quebec, Jade, Estelle, Solène and Caroline made a stopover in Montreal and visited her Museum of Fine Arts, discovered art galleries and some antique and thrift stores. Arrived at the end of July in the port metropolis, Flavie shared the surrounding nature with us on video. with the Montmorency Falls, Saint-Charles River, the main watercourse crossing the town, but also its streets and the architecture of the houses. During an internship in Montreal, Juliette discovered its city center (Downtown) with the Latin and Chinese quarters and the Plateau-Mont-Royal.

Open your eyes to the world

In Mexico since the end of July, Clothilde transmits the culture of this country to us through her visits and meetings. She went to the Guelaguetza in Oaxaca, a traditional festival, and in the small village of Teotitlan del Valle, “known for its craftsmanship of fabrics and for its chocolate”. In this country where religion is very present, she tells us, she discovered the village of San Juan Chamula, where the inhabitants speak Tzotzil, an indigenous language descending from the Maya. But alongside the magnificent landscapes, Clothilde also notes behind the scenes with pollution and overconsumption. In front of the Sumidero Canyon, she was saddened by the large amount of plastic and the constant passage of tourist boats, with a lack of respect for the environment. Becoming aware of what is happening in our world is also traveling. Clothilde tells us that the Coca-Cola company reigns within Le Chiapas. In this state in southern Mexico, where there are several archaeological sites, testifying to the Mayan civilization and magnificent natural landscapes within the rainforest, this American drink is sold cheaper than drinking water thanks to its water control of the region ! Cause of mortality linked to diabetes on the rise and pollution are the unfortunate consequences of this domination.

If Coca-Cola is known to everyone, our student also tasted local specialties : the very acid fruit of the Carambola tree, the Pozol au chocolat, a drink made from corn and pure chocolate, the chapulines, grilled insects, or even the pulque, a drink resulting from the fermentation of the sap of different agaves with a viscous texture. . Enjoy your meal ! After her many discoveries, it was in mid-August that Clothilde began her classes at UNARTE where she took workshops in wood, 3D printing, but also learned to make ceramics.
