“Design absorbs complexity”

The design professions have evolved a lot in twenty years. On the occasion of Intuit Lab's anniversary, we find our alumni who tell us about their experiences and their relationship to work.

Defining and solving problems is Matthieu Babé's daily life. Senior Product Designer, the alumni of the class of 2014-2015 strives to understand user behavior. Behind the design of our digital interfaces, there are long reflections and not insignificant choices. “I do not move a pixel without having researched and understood”, assures the Senior Product Designer of Luko, neo-insurance home. In this insurance environment where customers have a claims experience, it applies to simplify the user experience disasters.

“Design has a responsibility to provide a coherent response, a broader vision. It absorbs complexity”, explains Matthieu, adding that you have to “understand a problem in order to sell it”. “We move forward by defining the problem, then inspiration comes,” continues Matthieu, who explains that he does “a moodboard of the uses of behavior before drawing the creative juices from it”.

Invent your job

After his studies, Matthieu wasted no time creating his start-up and working as a freelancer. Through his experiences, he learned on the job his profession which did not yet have the name. It is this audacity to launch out, to dare to try, to allow oneself to dream, that he wishes to pass on to the students. Her rich background has allowed her to flourish: “I feel that I am where I should be”. His future challenge? Maybe become a Design Manager!
