"My professional network was built in part thanks to Intuit"

Share

Art Director and Graphic Designer, Aurélien Huvier (class of 2020-2021) works on brand branding. His projects allow him to bring together the different skills related to artistic direction.

You occupy the functions of Art Director and Graphic Designer. What links do you make between them and what is their main difference?

The Artistic Director hat takes on more importance at the beginning of the project, when you have to lay the creative foundations as well as the reflection of the concept, to cast a critical eye on the project. It is a transversal profession in several fields, branding, advertising, photography,…

That of the Graphic Designer takes place when the project must be structured in form, draw the logotype, charter the project, make it tangible so that it is ready to live by itself.

What does your day-to-day job look like today?

Today, I'm in a branding agency, I reflect on brands and their ecosystems by writing their stories.

What do you appreciate the most in your current job? What do you like least about your current job?

Today, I like to think about projects, go on photo shoots, succeed in shaping my ideas and seeing projects come to fruition. What I like least is the too serious part of the work sometimes, we are creative, let's have fun in the rules of the art!

“It's a school where you learn to be DA but also to be DA of your life. »

Does the evolution of your career resemble your aspirations during your studies?

During my studies I did all my experiences in advertising agencies, in which I really enjoyed myself. I was hired in a superb agency, (BrandStation not to mention it) following my work-study program in which I learned a lot but following my end-of-studies project, my personal desire was to do branding . Today, that's what I managed to do, integrate the world of branding.

What place does strategy occupy in your approach to design and brands?

Strategy is the basis of every project. It is necessary to build a project, to know its targets, how to establish it with them, in which ecosystem this brand is positioned to find a creative angle of attack.

What did you enjoy the most about your learning at the Intuit Lab School?

What brought me the most to the Intuit Lab School is first of all its human approach, each student is comfortable talking with other students of different levels. Being able to exchange with such a large number of creatives is something that will not happen often. It's a school where you learn to be DA but also to be DA of your life.

Does the school network play a role in your professional activity?

My professional network was built in part thanks to Intuit. The Creative Director of my apprenticeship happened to be a former student of Intuit (Damiens Guiol) he allowed me to have my first job. The agency I work for today spotted me following my Master's degree project.

What advice do you have for a student who wants to work in art direction?

I think you have to succeed in remaining yourself, having fun in what you do and in what you offer. Always want to improve, have a fighting spirit but above all sharing. Don't be afraid to step out of line, be different. Be curious about all areas, even those that put us off.

What is your professional, creative and/or relationship goal in the years to come?

I would like to find freedom in the creative world, to be able to exchange with as many people as possible around their desires, their ideas and to accompany them in order to bring them to life. Succeed in integrating the artistic environment more than the corporate one, diving into the artistic in its purest form, working on an aesthetic that is meaningful. Continue to live experiences, work in different fields, try a freelance life around the world.
