What is a design school?

A design school should not be confused with an art school. Their programs, teaching methods, and objectives are not the same. While both types of institutions aim to train students capable of harnessing their creativity, design schools are part of the applied arts sector. They do not train artists in the strict sense. Design responds to specific needs and objectives from businesses or the public. It can be applied to designing a brand identity , its visual communication, a digital interface , as well as signage and the overall experience of a space. Design schools have a professional focus, with learning that blends theory and practice, professional instructors, and internships and apprenticeships. Students at Intuit Lab complete their fifth year through an apprenticeship program, including two internships during their studies.

Teaching in design school

Each design school offers different programs that don't all lead to the same careers. However, design and art direction share skills common to both practices. The Intuit Lab school's curriculum, therefore, consists of a common core from the first year of undergraduate studies (Bac+1) to the fifth year (Bac+5) to train professionals capable of adapting to various career paths. Subjects include drawing , color and texture, illustration, creative design , and typography . Art history, English, and software training are also essential components of the curriculum.

What design school diploma?

To gain admission to a private design school outside of the Parcoursup system, it is crucial to verify that it is state-recognized. Programs must be registered with the RNCP (National Directory of Professional Certifications), which attests to an official qualification level. The RNCP certification validates the skills, abilities, and knowledge necessary to practice a profession or activity within a specific professional field . Intuit Lab awards the RNCP Level 7 certification of “Art Director in Brand Strategy and Design . ”
